John Taylor has been recording and performing in Los Angeles as an accomplished original artist on trumpet, keyboards and vocals for the last ten years with his original six-piece band. A full range of appealing styles in his compositions reflect the roots of his musical experiences being seasoned with popular jazz, rock and authentic blues music, while also being classically trained, receiving a Masters Degree in music from California State, Northridge and undergraduate work from the famed Eastman School of Music and Nortwestern University. Solid experience of roadwork with the Charlie Daniels Band, session work in L.A. and cruise ship world travel gigs supported John's developement as an in-demand player and composer/arranger while always writing and forming new musical associations with creative musicians to perform dynamic showcase venues in L.A. to play originally penned compositions. Playing with musicians from the Doobie Brothers, Maynard Ferguson, Anita Baker, Woody Herman, Chuck Mangione (and more) have kept his hands cooking! John says about writing a tune for the band: The main element of any song is that it has to have a strong identity of lyricism. If you can feel it and hum it, in that order, it has a chance to stand the judgment of time. Hearing a John Taylor Band concert has just the right touch of class with an infectious groove and dynamic charge! A prodigious talent that speaks for itself through his music, John never lets up in transcending the common when it comes to writing and playing music. If you are a selective listener, you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you hear. |
