Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the group formed in 1999 and has evolved to include David Boulanger (vocals, acoustic guitar), Marc Baureiss (electric guitar), Peter Baureiss (persussion), David Cramer (harmonica), Atik Mason (bass), and Neewa Mason (keyboard and vocals). The eleven-member ensemble generates a powerful sound that defies category by blending blues, jazz, rock, funk and traditional First Nations influences into a unique musical expression. Burnt's performances are powerful positive events. Audience involvement is overwhelming and listeners literally cannot stay seated... Everybody just gets up and dances. This album has elements of Blues, Jazz, Funk, Folk and Contemporary with a layer of Indigenous underlying most of it. A tremendous range of musical versatility. David Boulanger and the 10 piece band intends to break into the traditional Pop/Rock stage with their lead single Deadmen . Past appearances have been on CBC, NCI, and CTV. On stage appearances have included the Walker Theatre, the West End Cultural Centre, the Gas Station Theatre, the Forks Main Stage on National Aboriginal Day and the North American Indigenous Games.
